Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius toughness-matters control and tempo deck helmed by Plagon, Lord of the Beach. The primary strategy deploys low-cost, high-toughness creatures like Aegis Turtle, Shorecomber Crab, and Caelorna, Coral Tyrant during the opening turns. Once Plagon enters the battlefield, it immediately refills your hand by drawing cards equal to the number of creatures you control with toughness greater than power. The deck multiplies this card advantage using cheap blink spells such as Ephemerate and Cloudshift. It controls the board using asymmetric sweepers like Dusk // Dawn and Expel the Interlopers, which wipe opposing threats while leaving your high-toughness defenders untouched. To close the game, the deck converts massive toughness into lethal combat damage using Plagon's activated ability, Baldin, Century Herdmaster, and unblockable evasion from Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive, or wins via Approach of the Second Sun and infinite mana loops with Peregrine Drake and Archaeomancer.
