Deck overview

This is a mono-black midrange/control deck helmed by Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor, built around his combat-draw trigger and his activated ability to exile opponents' libraries and play their cards for free. The deck pairs evasive shadow creatures (Dauthi Slayer, Dauthi Cutthroat, Nether Traitor, Tormented Soul) with a dense suite of demons and drain effects to grind out card advantage and life-total pressure. A heavy recursion package (Reanimate, Victimize, Dread Return, Necromancy, Meathook Massacre II, Sheoldred, the True Scriptures) keeps the board resilient, while life-payment synergies (Necrodominance, Font of Agonies, Defiler of Flesh) fuel both draw and removal. Primary win conditions are devotion-based drain from Gray Merchant of Asphodel, a large Exsanguinate, and Gix's activated ability to cast opponents' cards. The deck is a slow, grindy value engine with no fast combo line.
