Deck overview

This deck is a high-velocity Izzet token and wheel strategy commanded by The Locust God. It accelerates through the early turns using efficient mana rocks and cost reducers before resolving its commander on Turn 5. Once The Locust God is on the battlefield, the deck weaponizes mass card draw—utilizing wheels like Tolarian Winds and Valakut Awakening, draw multipliers like Teferi's Ageless Insight, and engines like Skullclamp—to flood the board with 1/1 flying, hasty Insect tokens. Direct damage enablers such as Purphoros, God of the Forge, Impact Tremors, and Cavalcade of Calamity turn every drawn card into immediate table-wide burn. Efficient countermagic shields key turns, while a compact two-card combo featuring Niv-Mizzet, Parun and Curiosity provides an alternate instant-speed win condition.
