Deck overview

This Orzhov deck leverages The Kingpin of Crime to turn defensive, high-toughness creatures into potent offensive threats. By paying 2 life upon attacking, the commander allows creatures with toughness greater than their power to assign combat damage equal to their toughness. Low-cost creatures such as Giant Ox, Nyx-Fleece Ram, and Unhallowed Phalanx transform from inexpensive blockers into massive beaters capable of dealing heavy combat damage starting on Turn 4 and 5. Complementing this combat core is a secondary lifegain and drain shell featuring Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Kambal, Consul of Allocation, Pontiff of Blight, and Cliffhaven Vampire. These pieces weaponize extort triggers and incidental lifegain to pressure life totals outside of combat, culminating in an un-tutored two-card infinite loop with Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond. While the deck features robust spot removal and taxing permanents, it relies on natural card flow and faces vulnerability to mass removal over multiple combat cycles.
