Deck overview

This deck utilizes Smaug the Impenetrable as an explosive resource engine and win condition. Smaug's built-in haste and indestructibility allow you to turn self-inflicted damage spells like Cut Propulsion, Fire Covenant, and Blasphemous Act into massive bursts of Treasure tokens. By converting noncombat damage into raw mana velocity, the deck rapidly pivots into lethal aristocrat drain through Mirkwood Bats, Marionette Apprentice, Nadier's Nightblade, and Mayhem Devil. A heavy redirection package (Deflecting Swat, Bolt Bend, Return the Favor) protects Smaug against targeted exile removal, while continuous damage engines like Pestilence and Pyrohemia wipe opposing boards without harming your commander. Backup lines centered on Aggravated Assault, Ancient Copper Dragon, and Hellkite Tyrant ensure the deck can reliably close games even if Smaug is temporarily contained.
