Deck overview

This mono-black midrange deck pairs aristocrats sacrifice mechanics with +1/+1 counter aggression. Led by Scorpion, Seething Striker, the strategy uses symmetric edict creatures such as Accursed Marauder and Demon's Disciple to force opposing sacrifices while triggering the commander's end-step connive ability. Connive filters cards and distributes +1/+1 counters onto scaling threats like Yahenni, Undying Partisan, Venomcrawler, and Mortician Beetle. As opposing boards thin out under repeated sacrifice effects, the deck translates counter growth into lethal combat pressure using evasion from Hagra Constrictor and damage amplification from Necropolis Regent. Card draw engines like Skullclamp and Nikara, Lair Scavenger maintain resources into the mid-game. The deck wins by delivering sequential lethal attacks across Turns 7 through 9.
