Deck overview

This deck is a dedicated Dimir sea monster and reanimator strategy piloted by Runo Stromkirk // Krothuss, Lord of the Deep. The primary game plan leverages early topdeck manipulation, self-mill, and tutors like Entomb and Brainstorm to reliably put a high-cost sea monster on top of the library by Turn 3. On Turn 4 upkeep, Runo transforms into Krothuss, Lord of the Deep. Once Krothuss attacks alongside a Kraken, Leviathan, Octopus, or Serpent on Turn 5, it creates two attacking token copies of that behemoth. Threats like Spawning Kraken, Junk Winder, and Stormtide Leviathan flood the battlefield with massive bodies, tap down opposing defenses, and lock out opposing ground combat. Backed by asymmetric sweepers such as Whelming Wave and Cyclonic Rift, as well as efficient countermagic including Fierce Guardianship, the deck overwhelms the table with unstoppable combat damage by Turn 6.
