Deck overview

This deck executes an Orzhov lifegain and aristocrats strategy spearheaded by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. Early turns focus on establishing mana ramp and recurring token generators such as Adeline, Resplendent Cathar and Ophiomancer. These tokens generate continuous life triggers via Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim and Bastion of Remembrance, which feed into Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel to convert surplus life into massive card advantage. The deck then transitions into a decisive board state by stacking drain multipliers like Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Starscape Cleric, and Astarion, the Decadent, or closing games through an explosive Gray Merchant of Asphodel. While the deck features robust card draw and efficient spot removal, its reliance on a wide permanent footprint and lack of instant-speed infinite combos makes it susceptible to well-timed board wipes.
