Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius Pillowfort Control strategy commanded by Grand Arbiter Augustin IV. It aims to control the pace of the game by stacking asymmetric spell taxes and creature attack taxes, preventing opponents from mounting aggressive combat assaults. In the early turns, the deck sets up cost-reducers and incidental lifegain engines like Soul Warden and Authority of the Consuls to preserve its life total well above 40. Once established behind defensive walls such as Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, and Sphere of Safety, it transitions to closing the game using alternate win condition permanents. Its primary path to victory is resolving Felidar Sovereign on Turn 6 with a protected life buffer, winning on the subsequent upkeep. Backup avenues include casting Approach of the Second Sun or generating an army of 4/4 flying Angels via Sigil of the Empty Throne.
