Deck overview

This Rakdos deck is centered on Smaug the Impenetrable, leveraging Treasure generation, Dragon tribal synergy, and artifact-based burn engines to dominate the mid-to-late game. Early turns are dedicated to setting up mana through Treasure-generating spells like Seize the Spoils and Big Score. Once Smaug enters on Turn 5, its indestructible body and noncombat damage trigger turn self-harm spells like Cut Propulsion into massive bursts of mana. These bursts quickly convert into direct table-wide damage through payoffs like Reckless Fireweaver, Ingenious Artillerist, and Mirkwood Bats. The deck also packs a potent two-card infinite combo with Mayhem Devil for an instant kill. While vulnerable to exile effects and lacking enchantment removal, the deck boasts strong resilience through high mana velocity, recursion spells like Zombify, and alternate combat lines with heavy-hitting Dragons like Goldspan Dragon and Scourge of the Throne.
