Deck overview

This Golgari deck centers around Kraven the Hunter, blending Voltron combat with heavy reactive creature control. Kraven rewards you with +1/+1 counters and fresh cards whenever an opponent's greatest-power creature dies. The deck capitalizes on this trigger through a dense suite of spot removal, bite, and fight spells. Once Kraven enters on turn 3, your game plan pivots to picking off the biggest opposing threats on each player's turn, steadily growing Kraven while keeping your hand full. While the deck boasts high targeted interaction and solid 1-mana defensive spells to protect its commander, its closing speed is inherently bounded by fair, single-target combat. Without infinite combos or wide-board overrun effects, Kraven must eliminate opponents one by one through commander damage and trample pressure. The deck excels in creature-heavy midrange pods where its removal triggers are frequent, but it struggles against go-wide token swarms, spell-based combo decks, and persistent board wipes.
