Deck overview

This deck is commanded by Kaalia of the Vast, aiming to cheat massive Angels, Demons, and Dragons onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. The game plan relies on deploying Kaalia, giving her haste or protecting her through a turn cycle, and swinging to deploy game-ending flyers like Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Archfiend of Despair, and Balefire Dragon without paying their mana costs. While the payoff suite is devastating in combat, the deck suffers from a severe mana base limitation: running 38 basic Swamp cards in a three-color Mardu deck makes casting Kaalia entirely dependent on drawing specific color-fixing artifact rocks. When operational, the deck presents overwhelming flying pressure and asymmetric board wipes, but it remains vulnerable to targeted removal on Kaalia and color screw.
