Deck overview

The deck uses Doran, Besieged by Time to reduce high-toughness creature costs and turn toughness into a resource for combat. Its normal development is to play lands and mana creatures, deploy Doran, Besieged by Time, then build a board of large-toughness creatures such as Indomitable Ancients, Bedrock Tortoise, and Tree of Perdition. The strongest supported finish is not ordinary combat. It uses Betor, Kin to All with at least 40 total toughness and Bloodletter of Aclazotz. At the end step, Betor, Kin to All makes each opponent lose half their life; Bloodletter of Aclazotz doubles that loss during your turn, killing opponents from 40 life. The finish is decisive once assembled, but the deck must retain many creatures and find two specific payoff roles. Phyrexian Arena, The One Ring, and Ohran Frostfang provide additional flow, while Heroic Intervention and Asceticism help protect the board. The main weakness is slow, exposed assembly.
