Deck overview

This deck is a Jeskai combat deck commanded by Aragorn, King of Gondor. It blends classic pillowfort defense with monarch-driven token generation and unblockable combat. The early game establishes defensive taxes through cards like Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, and Collective Restraint, preventing opponents from profitably attacking you. Once Aragorn enters, you claim the monarch, drawing an additional card each turn and triggering payoffs like Prince Imrahil the Fair and Mischievous Mystic. Aragorn's attack trigger prevents all opposing creatures from blocking as long as you retain the crown, allowing an expanding army of tokens and legendary creatures to strike with impunity. A robust suite of low-cost countermagic and instant removal safeguards your position, while finishers like Akroma's Will and Cathars' Crusade convert evasion into decisive table kills.
