Deck overview

Rowan, Scion of War commands a storm and turbo-combo deck centered around converting life loss into massive generic mana discounts for black and red spells. By intentionally draining your own life through painlands, fetchlands, and aggressive enablers like Treasonous Ogre, Doom Whisperer, and Bolas's Citadel, Rowan can tap to reduce spell costs by astronomical amounts. You turn this cost reduction into immediate victory by chaining large draw spells such as Peer into the Abyss into lethal X-spells like Torment of Hailfire, Crackle with Power, or Exsanguinate, or by executing infinite loops using Reiterate, Dualcaster Mage, or Acererak the Archlich.
