Deck overview

This deck is a competitive Gruul Turbo Stax build commanded by Ruric Thar, the Unbowed. It leverages a dense suite of 0-1 CMC fast mana, mana dorks, and explosive rituals to deploy Ruric Thar, the Unbowed on Turn 2 or Turn 3. Once resolved, Ruric Thar establishes an immediate 6-damage tax on every noncreature spell, severely punishing storm lines, noncreature ramp, and removal attempts. The deck layers heavy proactive disruption through Collector Ouphe, Torpor Orb, Magus of the Moon, Vexing Bauble, and Possibility Storm, locking down artifacts, ETB triggers, free spells, and hand-casting. While opponents struggle under these severe resource taxes, the deck breaks parity with creature-based mana and aggressive beaters like Kogla, the Titan Ape, Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, and Dragonborn Champion, closing the game through relentless combat and cumulative noncreature cast burn by Turn 6.
