Deck overview

This Esper list is a dedicated Sphinx typal midrange stompy deck commanded by The Ur-Sphinx. The deck's primary game plan centers on exploiting the commander's eminence ability from the command zone, which grants a permanent {1} cost reduction to all Sphinx spells. Backed by 13 low-cost mana rocks and typal cost reducers like Urza's Incubator and Watcher of the Spheres, the deck routinely casts 5- and 6-mana flying beaters well ahead of curve starting on Turn 4. Flagship threats like Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign, Consecrated Sphinx, and Tivit, Seller of Secrets establish compounding card advantage and treasure production, rapidly converting mana acceleration into overwhelming aerial board presence. The deck closes games through lethal combat damage over Turns 6 to 8, aided by Magister Sphinx resetting high life totals and Raise the Palisade clearing opposing blockers. While resilient against targeted removal thanks to widespread ward and hexproof, the list relies heavily on combat steps and remains vulnerable to well-timed board wipes.
