Deck overview

This Mardu deck is a political control and Aikido strategy commanded by Mathas, Fiend Seeker. Rather than racing to build an overwhelming personal army, the deck encourages and forces opponents to attack one another. By deploying pillowfort pieces such as Ghostly Prison and Windborn Muse, you make yourself an unprofitable target while using Mathas, Fiend Seeker's bounty counters and political card draw to incentivize opponent removal spells. When opposing boards grow large, cards like Disrupt Decorum, Kardur, Doomscourge, and Taunt from the Rampart force opponents into lethal mutual combat. Sudden damage redirection cards like Deflecting Palm, Comeuppance, and Inkshield turn massive enemy attacks into fatal blowouts. The deck finishes games around Turn 8 by taking control of depleted boards with Insurrection or capitalizing on the last surviving opponent's diminished life total.
