Deck overview

This deck is an explosive Selesnya Voltron aggro strategy centered entirely on Sergeant John Benton. By deploying cheap one-mana ramp like Llanowar Elves and Wild Growth, the deck consistently casts its commander on Turn 2. Because John Benton has native trample and haste, he immediately threatens combat damage, utilizing cost-efficient pump spells like Invigorate, Become Immense, and Might of Old Krosa to rapidly scale his power. Dealing combat damage triggers his symmetrical draw ability, filling your hand with a vast array of one-mana protection spells such as Blacksmith's Skill, Blossoming Defense, and Royal Treatment. With a full grip, you reliably defend Benton against opposing interaction while chaining pump spells on successive turns. The plan eliminates one opponent per turn cycle with 21 commander damage, closing the game around Turn 5. The primary vulnerability stems from extreme dependence on the commander and feeding opponents fresh cards, but dense instant-speed protection keeps the engine resilient.
