Merfolk Tribal - Hakbal of the Surging Soul by user8922037

Format: Commander

Commander: Hakbal of the Surging Soul

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Hakbal of the Surging Soul leads a Merfolk tribal deck built around explore-trigger card advantage and land acceleration. The primary plan is to flood the board with cheap Merfolk, pump them with lords and +1/+1 counters, then close with Overwhelming Stampede or Triumph of the Hordes. A secondary, faster path assembles the Deeproot Pilgrimage + Intruder Alarm + Kiora's Follower loop for infinite mana and tokens, then sinks into Thrasios or Kumena to draw into Thassa's Oracle. The commander accelerates every turn with land drops and explore counts; the deck can still function without him but noticeably slows. Thrasios is a backup value engine in the 99, not a hidden commander.
