Deck overview

This Sultai deck focuses on maximizing the value of X-cost spells under the leadership of Zaxara, the Exemplary. By combining early mana dorks, rocks, and Zaxara's innate ability to tap for two mana, the deck rapidly accelerates into the midgame. Every X-spell cast creates an additional scaling Hydra token, doubling the board presence generated by single cards. High-volume draw engines like Garruk's Uprising, Greater Good, and Hydroid Krasis keep the hand filled with fresh gas. The primary path to victory involves scaling massive creatures with counter doublers like Branching Evolution and Unbound Flourishing, then granting universal evasion with Herald of Secret Streams or Garruk's Uprising to eliminate opponents through combat. The list protects its critical assets with cheap countermagic and flexible phasing spells while using asymmetric wipes like Wave Goodbye to break board stalls.
