Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis spellslinger midrange strategy helmed by Saruman, the White Hand, focused on converting noncreature spells into a towering Orc Army token. By casting mana rocks and utility spells on curve, the deck leverages Saruman's ability to turn spell mana values directly into +1/+1 counters, creating a massive single threat protected by innate ward {2}. The deck seeks to eliminate opponents through unblockable combat damage enabled by lands like The Black Gate and Rogue's Passage, or through noncombat damage bursts via Chandra's Ignition, Fling, and Soul's Fire. Secondary token generators like Lord of the Nazgûl and Sauron, the Dark Lord offer alternate pressure vectors, while a standard suite of Grixis counterspells and removal provides defense.
