Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan Reanimator strategy commanded by Nethroi, Apex of Death. It exploits a unique mechanical interaction: creature cards with 0 printed power that enter the battlefield with +1/+1 counters count as 0 power while in the graveyard. This allows Nethroi's mutate ability, which returns up to 10 total power of creatures, to reanimate an entire board of massive threats simultaneously, including Kalonian Hydra, Ghave, Guru of Spores, Phantom Nishoba, Polukranos, Unchained, and Noosegraf Mob. Early turns focus on ramping mana and filling the graveyard with enablers like Hermit Druid, Stitcher's Supplier, and Buried Alive. On Turn 5, casting Nethroi for its mutate cost over a non-Human creature deploys 30 to 50 power of synergistic creatures. Supported by Champion of Lambholt for unblockability and counter doublers like Corpsejack Menace, the deck closes the game with overwhelming combat damage on Turn 6 or through aristocrat loops.
