Format: Commander

Commander: Sergeant John Benton

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Sergeant John Benton is an all-in aura/combat-trick voltron deck. The plan is to accelerate one mana on turn one, cast John Benton on turn two (haste means he attacks immediately), and turn every subsequent attack into a huge card-draw and damage event. Trample and pump spells force through 21 commander damage, while the draw trigger refills the hand with more protection and pumps. There is no hidden commander and no real second plan; backup attacks from mana dorks are incidental. The key skill is sequencing instant-speed pump and protection so John Benton survives removal and blockers while maximizing damage, then closing with a large delve/free spell or double-strike burst.
