Smaug’s Hoard by user9573535

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos Dragon/Treasure deck helmed by Smaug the Impenetrable, built around one core loop: generate a critical mass of Treasure tokens, then convert them into a win. The commander's ability - creating Treasures equal to any noncombat damage dealt to it - turns damage spells like Blasphemous Act and Brotherhood's End into massive Treasure bursts. The primary win is Revel in Riches (ten Treasures at upkeep), backed by overwhelming Dragon combat from Goldspan Dragon, Ancient Copper Dragon, and Cavern-Hoard Dragon. A clean two-card infinite in Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Walking Ballista provides an alternate, faster kill. The deck is a midrange value pile with premium tutors, strong draw, and a dense suite of redirect/counter effects, playing a patient game of accumulating Treasures before exploding.
