Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic mono-black Zombie tribal and aristocrats strategy commanded by Zul Ashur, Lich Lord. The primary game plan focuses on building a dense board of Zombie creatures, using sacrifice outlets and death triggers to generate card advantage, and utilizing the commander's tap ability to repeatedly cast threats directly from the graveyard. Early turns focus on deploying efficient low-cost creatures like Cryptbreaker and Carrion Feeder alongside artifact ramp. By Turn 4, the deck establishes an operational engine with Zul Ashur and draw permanents like Undead Augur. The deck reaches critical onset on Turn 6 through wide board anthems, one-sided board wipes with Noxious Ghoul, or heavy drain from Gray Merchant of Asphodel. While the deck has strong internal redundancy and reliable recursion, it lacks direct tutors, counterspells, and dedicated protection spells, making it vulnerable to exile sweepers and dedicated graveyard hate.
