Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mardu aggro-reanimator list commanded by Kaalia of the Vast. The core strategy accelerates Kaalia onto the board by Turn 3 or 4, grants her haste, and declares an attack to cheat overwhelming flying Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly onto the battlefield without paying their steep mana costs. Payload cards like Archfiend of Despair, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, and Avacyn, Angel of Hope double damage output and make your board resilient to sweepers. If opponents remove Kaalia, the deck transitions smoothly into an efficient reanimator plan using cards like Reanimate, Animate Dead, and Living Death to return discarded or destroyed behemoths. Pillowfort pieces like Ghostly Prison and Norn's Annex buy time against aggressive go-wide boards while high-impact flyers close out the game in 2 to 3 combat steps.
