Valgavoth v3. by 0ka

Format: Commander

Commander: Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos "everything you do hurts" group-slug deck helmed by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. Every class of opponent action - drawing a card, casting a spell, activating an ability, playing a land, even existing through an upkeep - is taxed by a web of punitive enchantments and creatures, and the commander converts the first life-loss event on each opponent's turn into a card and a +1/+1 counter. That makes the table's own activity the deck's draw engine and its win condition simultaneously. The deck closes through attrition amplified by Fiery Emancipation and Twinflame Tyrant, a one-shot Tainted Strike or Temur Battle Rage on a huge Valgavoth, the infinite Bloodchief Ascension + Mindcrank mill-drain loop, or Improvisation Capstone free-spell cascades. It is a deliberately symmetrical prison: the pilot's job is ensuring life-loss events always flow so Valgavoth keeps drawing while the table burns.
