Deck overview

This mono-black control deck uses Avacyn, Angel of Horror to turn sacrifice effects into recurring end-step engines. The deck accelerates through black mana doublers like Crypt Ghast, Cabal Coffers, and Extraplanar Lens, supported by fast rituals. It controls the battlefield with cheap spot removal, sweepers like Toxic Deluge, and repeatable edict creatures such as Plaguecrafter. Once Avacyn enters the battlefield on Turn 6, any nontoken creature that dies returns at the beginning of the next end step. This turns self-sacrificing edicts into a continuous lock, repeatedly triggers Kokusho, the Evening Star and Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and lets Mindslicer strip all opposing hands. The deck closes games quickly on Turn 7 through compounded drain triggers, commander combat damage, or a massive Torment of Hailfire. Independent backup lines through big mana and Tergrid, God of Fright ensure the deck functions even if the commander is removed.
