Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Simic Merfolk tribal strategy helmed by Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca. The primary game plan curves out efficient low-cost Merfolk, casts Kumena on Turn 3, and leverages Kumena's activated abilities—which bypass summoning sickness—to draw cards and grow the team with +1/+1 counters. Untap engines like Quest for Renewal, Merrow Commerce, and Seedborn Muse supercharge this engine across each opponent's turn cycle, generating substantial card and mana velocity. The deck closes games around Turns 5 to 7 via unblockable combat damage enabled by Herald of Secret Streams, islandwalk, or asymmetric bounce spells like Raise the Palisade and Cyclonic Rift. Additionally, a two-card infinite combo between Wanderwine Prophets and Deeproot Pilgrimage provides a compact extra-turn win condition. Multi-layered countermagic, ward protection from Svyelun of Sea and Sky, and hexproof tokens ensure strong resilience against targeted interaction.
