Deck overview

This deck is a focused mono-black discard and stax strategy commanded by Tergrid, God of Fright. The game plan revolves around deploying Tergrid and immediately capitalizing on dense symmetric discard and sacrifice effects. Once Tergrid is operational alongside spells like Dark Deal, Delirium Skeins, or enchantments like Bottomless Pit, every opponent's discarded permanent or sacrificed creature is stolen directly to your battlefield. This generates enormous card and mana disparity while leaving opponents topdecking without resources. The deck leverages big-mana lands including Cabal Coffers, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to cast an overwhelming Torment of Hailfire or simply closes through an army of stolen threats. While its proactive resource denial is oppressive and backbreaking, the deck is hindered by a low density of cheap ramp, vulnerability to creature removal before Tergrid triggers, and an inability to interact with opposing noncreature spells on the stack.
