Overview:
This is a highly optimized Loot, the Pathfinder combo deck that leverages its commander's exhaust abilities alongside various infinite mana and creature flicker combinations to achieve early wins through either Thassa's Oracle or infinite damage loops.
Primer:
The deck aims to establish quick mana acceleration through fast mana artifacts and efficient creatures, then leverage either Food Chain loops with creatures like Eternal Scourge or Misthollow Griffin, or create infinite mana through Deadeye Navigator paired with Peregrine Drake. The commander serves as both a value engine and combo piece, providing card draw and mana generation through its exhaust abilities.
Ideal opening hands should contain fast mana (Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, etc.) and either tutors or card advantage pieces (Mystic Remora, Rhystic Study). Early game focuses on establishing mana and drawing cards, mid-game involves assembling combo pieces while maintaining interaction, and late game (if reached) leverages the commander's abilities for value while protecting the win. Key tutor targets are Food Chain for the primary combo line or Spellseeker to find interaction or combo pieces as needed.
Weaknesses:
- Heavily reliant on artifacts for early acceleration, making it vulnerable to mass artifact removal
- Can struggle against heavy stax pieces that prevent untapping permanents or limit activated abilities
- Relatively low creature count makes it susceptible to creature-based strategies if combo pieces are disrupted
- Commander's high mana cost can be problematic if it gets removed multiple times
Most Important Cards:
- Food Chain
- Eternal Scourge
- Thassa's Oracle
- Deadeye Navigator
- Peregrine Drake
- Spellseeker
- Force of Will
- Mana Crypt
- Chrome Mox
- Lion's Eye Diamond
Attribute Ratings:
- Speed: 9/10
- Resilience: 8/10
- Consistency: 9/10
- Interaction: 8/10
Rating Justification:
This deck consistently threatens wins by turn 3-4 through multiple redundant combo lines protected by a strong suite of free countermagic. The presence of multiple tutors, fast mana, and efficient card selection puts it firmly in high-powered cEDH territory. While not quite at the absolute peak of optimization like some Tier 1 cEDH decks, it maintains the ability to compete at the highest levels and can regularly threaten early wins through protected combos.
Final power level rating: 8.5 - 9.0
The deck demonstrates all the hallmarks of a competitive EDH deck: efficient tutors, free countermagic, fast mana, and compact win conditions. While it may not consistently threaten turn 1-2 wins like some Tier 1 decks, it's definitely capable of competing at cEDH tables and can reliably present wins or establish control by turn 3 with protection.
